DSBCo was founded and is helmed by Mike Madariaga. Mike brings an extensive roster of professional building experience together with a vision for building fearlessly distinctive, architecturally impactful homes. Equally inspired by both the classic Georgian beauty as by the thoughtfully evolved modernist house, he has been studying and observing what makes a home notable and iconic since he was a kid. Often found taking apart and rebuilding anything he could get his hands on, from his earliest days Mike has been asking questions and pushing limits on how to build better.

Although summers framing houses while earning his degree in Business Management from North Carolina State University began his journey in construction, his first professional foray into the industry was in commercial construction learning the process-first approach of building multifamily, pharmaceutical, office and educational projects. This led Mike next to a Master’s Degree from the University of Florida’s Rinker School of Building Construction, known to be one of the nation’s oldest and most respected construction science programs.

He went on to manage projects all over Florida and the Carolinas exceeding $35 million and 225,000 sf for national companies such as Bovis Lend Lease (managing projects at Merck Pharmaceuticals, Cisco Systems, Duke University) and Pulte Homes, as well as for local custom builders and engineers. He worked on Raleigh’s first luxury million-and-up condo project on Glenwood and went on to build custom single family homes on a similar scale of luxury.

Mike set out in 2010 to begin DSBCo., returning to his first love- pursuing beauty in the form of home- and inspired to create his own signature standards and processes for building-it-better. He remains compelled by a spirit of adventure and curiosity in everything he does, dedicated to the idea that every home DSBCo. builds is an opportunity to create an enduring, living work of art.
